Best Puppy Chow Snack Mix Recipe

I have a confession: I’ve lived 38 years and prior to this past weekend I had never tried puppy chow (also known as muddy buddies or monkey munch). I’m not sure exactly how this came to be — my relatively sheltered East Coast upbringing certainly can’t be to blame, since I’m clearly the only person on the planet who was unaware of this bizarre, inexpensive, and truly delectable snack.

Nevertheless, when I found out about puppy chow I was curious, so I gathered my team of three pint-sized recruits, borrowed some peanut butter from my neighbor (true story), and got to work on a serious puppy chow marathon. The results? Seven different types of chow and lots of empty cereal boxes.

If you’re wondering how to make puppy chow, or which puppy chow recipes were a hit with my little people, you’ve come to the right place. This is such a fun treat because there are so many variations to try, which makes it perfect for just about any season or holiday. Most of these variations build on the basic puppy chow recipe, which I’ve outlined below.
