Can you imagine spending 65 years happily married to the love of your life? It must be incredible.
Megan Vaughan of Megan Vaughan Photography got to have a most amazing experience on one of her photo shoots. Ruby and Harold, a lovely couple, were celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary. Megan had taken photos of their 60th anniversary, too, and was so excited to spend more time with the sweet couple.
Harold was just as full of jokes and witty comments, as always, but Ruby's dementia had worsened. She didn't remember Megan, yet she gave her a huge, welcoming hug regardless and gleefully accepted the cookies Megan brought to her.
When writing about her experience on the shoot, Megan says that, "It’s so sad to know that she won’t remember me, her cookies or the wonderful time we had together. But she’ll enjoy looking at the pictures and that’s exactly why I do what I do. They still have a large framed print hanging in their home from our last session together."
These photos are a bit bittersweet, but they lean heavily on the sweet! Getting older isn't always easy, but this display of true love is so inspirational.

Harold was very proud of his less-than $15 suit, which he found at a secondhand store.
Ruby has trouble remembering most things, but not Harold. She loves him more every day.

When asked to give her husband a kiss, Ruby joked, "Ooooooh! Haven’t I kissed him enough?"
These two were clearly meant for each other.
These weathered hands have held each other for 65 long years.
