Did you fall head over heels for the Harry Potter books when you first read them? Or were you more enamored of the movie franchise starring Daniel Radcliffe?
Either way, we have good news for you: Harry Potter's childhood home just hit the market!
The dream of any fiction fan is to live in their preferred fantasy world for real, and Harry Potter fans are no exception.
Of course, we are talking about serious fans of the "Boy Who Lived," fans who do things like dress their babies up as Harry, or plan entire vacations just to see Harry Potter World in Orlando, Florida.
That's why we're guessing that lots of enthusiastic "Muggles" are delighted to hear that Harry's childhood home is on the market!
The house for sale appeared in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh installation in the film franchise. It's actually known as the De Vere House, but in the movies, it represented the house in the fictional wizarding village of Godric's Hollow, where Harry was born.
In real life, the house was recently put on the market in Lavenham, England, about two hours northeast of London.
This house would be impressive whether or not it was featured in Harry Potter, but the fact that it was makes it even better. And the interior is pretty darn spectacular to boot!
The historic timbered home, called the De Vere House, is located in the English countryside, in the quaint village of Lavenham.
While it might not have the dark history of Harry's home in the novel, it definitely has a unique and rich backstory all its own
The home is currently listed at £995,000, or roughly $1.3 million.
The house is a Grade 1 listed property, meaning it's of historical significance.
UK real estate agency Carter Jonas notes: "Even though Lavenham is synonymous with fine timber framed houses, De Vere House stands out as one of the most prestigious with its beautiful façade and significant period features throughout. The front door of De Vere House is one of its most notable features and appears in numerous guide books and Treasures of Britain."
While the place has a large price tag, the period architecture and medieval feeling of the home are at least partly responsible.
In fact, according to the listing on Carter Jonas, the house was famous in its own right even before Harry Potter existed.
They note: "The house takes its name from the De Vere family and had previously been known as Oxenford House and Oxford House. In Medieval times the De Vere family were the second richest family after the King and were responsible for creating much of Lavenham’s medieval grandeur."
In the film, the house overlooks a grim graveyard, but not to worry, it's a much nicer view in real life.
In reality, the house features beautiful gardens with no headstones in sight.
The house even comes with a collection of chickens!
What could be more quaint than a medieval timbered cottage in England, complete with a clucking roost of chickens and plenty of fresh eggs?
Sounds like heaven to us!
Although the home is technically a "cottage," it has six bedrooms and four bathrooms.
That means it's plenty big enough for any family (or for multiple Harry Potter fans, perhaps!).
Inside, the decor is a colorful, eclectic mishmash, cozy as can be!
So, if you know anyone interested in purchasing property in the UK, let them know about the Harry Potter house!
From the timbered walls to the diamond-paned glass, this historic house can't wait to be someone's home!
