After Hurricane Harvey made its way through Texas, residents of the Lone Star state were left to deal with the storm's horrific aftermath.
Entire streets, highways, and towns were flooded with several feet of water. It was a time of crisis, but also a source of faith when everyone needed it the most.
While surveying the scene, a man named Brian K. Roberson II decided to take some photos of his community after the storm hit. He never expected to capture this.
As Brian started taking pictures, he focused in on these abandoned vehicles stuck in the flood water.
He realized that someone had gotten into the water and was wading through to get to the vehicles. Luckily, Brian documented it all as it unfolded.
Although the water was up to his chest, a pastor from the area risked his own safety traveling to these stranded cars.
In an incredible moment of humanity, the pastor hopped on top of the vehicles in order to peek through the windows. His mission was to search for trapped survivors and help out anyone he found inside. He went from car to car, looking for people in need.
In Brian's post, he explains, "He wanted to make sure the people made it out. He was a preacher, and he said if he's missing his service he wanted to make sure he was still helping folks if he could."
In the end, the pastor didn't find anyone, and the owners of the vehicles had already escaped. He is truly one of the silent heroes we all need in this world!
