One of my favorite things about looking back at baby names from the past is seeing how pop culture can sway a parents' decision.
If you look back at birth records from the years surrounding each of the classic films below, chances are you'll find the character's name on more than a few little ones.
In fact, some were so popular that they were still being given to newborn babies decades later! Still, they all call back to the iconic role that gave the name a whole new life. Plus, the actors behind each character could also give an expecting parent the inspiration they've been looking for when it comes to their upcoming bundle of joy.
Take a look at all the classic film roles that would still make a perfect baby name today.

1. Margo
Film: All About Eve
Portrayed By: Bette Davis
Although she wasn't playing the title character, Bette gave an unforgettable performance as the aging stage actress.
2. Fran
Film: The Apartment
Portrayed By: Shirley MacLaine
Shirley was nominated for an Oscar as the adorable elevator operator sporting an iconic pixie cut.
3. Ilsa
Film: Casablanca
Portrayed By: Ingrid Bergman
Giving this name to a child could be the "beginning of a beautiful friendship" between the little lady and her parents.
4. Harpo
Film: Monkey Business
Portrayed By: Harpo Marx
No offense to the other Marx Brothers, but Harpo was always my favorite — and his name could really help a kid stand out from the crowd!
5. Harvey
Film: Harvey
Portrayed By: no one
Whether or not the invisible rabbit really existed in the 1950 flick, you have to admit his name has charm.
6. Elwood
Film: Harvey
Portrayed By: James Stewart
This could also be a reference to Dan Aykroyd's equally legendary role as Elwood Blues in The Blues Brothers.
7. Hildy
Film: His Girl Friday
Portrayed By: Rosalind Russell
A little girl with this name might also inherit the character's zingy wit!
8. Mildred
Film: Mildred Pierce
Portrayed By: Joan Crawford
Mildred's daughter also had a unique name choice in the 1945 film: Veda.
9. Cosmo
Film: Singin' in the Rain
Portrayed By: Donald O'Connor
This might also be where the writers of Seinfeld found inspiration for Kramer's first name on the comedy series.
10. Stanley
Film: A Streetcar Named Desire
Portrayed By: Marlon Brando
Stanley might not have been the kindest of characters, but you have to applaud Marlon's incredible performance in the role.
11. Daphne
Film: Some Like It Hot
Portrayed By: Jack Lemmon
It's a cute name and a fun twist on naming a little girl after a role by one of the finest actor's in film history!
12. Dorothy
Film: The Wizard of Oz
Portrayed By: Judy Garland
You can't go wrong with this nod to Judy's trip down the yellow brick road.
13. Kane
Film: Citizen Kane
Portrayed By: Orson Welles
The 1941 film is one of the most celebrated movies in the history of Hollywood with its groundbreaking techniques.
