To many pet owners, there's nothing more saddening than seeing abused and neglected animals fighting for their right to live.
Luckily, there are organizations and individuals who take it upon themselves to be the difference between life and death for many of these animals. While we will never be able to save all of the suffering pets, every single life is precious!
Izabella St. James is known as "The Pug Queen," and she has dedicated her life to saving as many suffering pugs as she can. She urges her followers to contact her if they see one in a desperate situation.
One of her fans did just that, and her most recent mission rescued a 7-year-old and a 5-year-old pug from 105-degree heat. Her heart broke seeing the two dogs virtually motionless, doing everything to stay cool. One secluded himself by the side of the house, in the shade, and the other dug a hole to escape the heat.
But thanks to her persistence, she was able to get them out of their situation. Scroll down to see how they're doing now!
Izabella St. James is known as "The Pug Queen" because she has dedicated her life to rescuing pugs from awful situations.
A fan contacted her on Facebook regarding two pugs, a 7-year-old and a 5-year-old, who'd been left outside to die in 105-degree heat by a cruel owner.
One of pugs had sought shelter by the side of the house, and the other had dug a hole to stay cool. Izabella knew that they would die if she didn't rescue them soon.
Apparently, the dogs had been kept outside for years in all kinds of horrible weather, and they had many health problems as a result. One even had a bad cough.
When Izabella saw the pups, they definitely seemed to be in bad shape.
Izabella knocked on the owner's door and saw that he was an elderly man. She asked if she could buy the dogs from him, but he refused. She even offered $1,000 for them, but he still denied her.
Izabella wasn't ready to give up. She went to the man's neighbor and learned that the man had a son. She left her name and number so that the son could contact her and maybe accept her offer.
Luckily, he did! Izabella took the two pugs — now named Lewis and Clark — to the vet, where they were given the treatment they needed.
Lewis went home with Izabella, and "The Pug Queen" visits Clark at the vet as often as she can!
Thankfully, both are looking better than ever, all thanks to "The Pug Queen!"
