Almost everyone cares at least a little bit about what they look like.
If you're someone who pays attention to your skin care, you know what it's like to get a little bit obsessed with your pores.
People all over the world try to have clear and unblemished skin. Of course, it's absolutely ridiculous to try to have pore-free skin, but that doesn't stop us from using every product out there to get our skin one step closer to "perfect."
There seems to be no better way to get rid of blackheads and big pores than by using pore strips, sticky adhesive patches that pull all the "bad" things out of your skin.
These pore strips are marketed to us as a way to fix our skin-care problems — but it turns out they're not actually good for skin health!
Find out more about why you shouldn't use pore strips by reading below.

Many people, especially women, feel self-conscious about their skin.
If you have blackheads or pimples, it's easy to want to get rid of them or cover them with makeup.
If you have blackheads or large pores, you may have turned to pore strips at some point in time.
We all know how they work: you moisten them and stick them to your skin, then pull them off when they dry.
When you pull the dry pore strip off your face — often your nose, chin, or forehead — the blackheads should all come out.
Unfortunately, this isn't what always happens.
It may be super satisfying to look at what the pore strip pulls out of your skin, but more often than not it's actually not getting blackheads out.
Instead, it's ripping dry skin off your face and pulling the natural oils out of your pores.
Your skin produces an oil called sebum that helps protect the skin's surface from damage.
If you squeeze out this oil, or pull it out with a pore strip, your skin will start to overproduce oil.
When your skin produces too much sebum, it can cause breakouts.
Plus, the strips just take out whatever is at the tip, not all of the oil, which leads to even more breakouts.
Some people feel that their skin is smoother and softer after using pore strips, but this is just because it pulls the dead skin off.
Plus, you could be damaging your skin by tugging and stretching it.
By pulling the gluey sheets from your skin, you're stretching it out.
This is a huge no-no when it comes to anti-aging.
Not only do pore strips not do what they claim they do — remove blackheads and impurities — they can also cause even more problems for your skin.
So what should you do instead? Use gentle exfoliants!
