Children all over the world are demonstrating their writing skills in their letters to Santa this month.
While there are all sorts of mechanisms in place at companies like USPS that ensure the magic of Christmas stays alive and children receive responses, not all kids are onboard.
We've all seen hilarious letters to Santa where kids ask for things like "tons of money" or threaten "you better bring my pony this year."
However, none are quite as funny or skeptical as the letter Sarah McCammon's son wrote to Santa for school.
The proud mom shared the letter on Twitter and received over 14,000 likes in less than a day.
At a glance, the letter might look like a typical note to Santa. A closer examination reveals that the 6-year-old is a little more cynical about the jolly man in red than most people his age — or of any age for that matter.
Sarah shared the Tweet with the caption, "My 6 yo Santa skeptic was told to write a letter to Santa at school. So he did…"
The hilarious Tweet received over 250 comments, 5,000 retweets, and 14,000 likes.
The letter reads:
Dear Santa,
Santa Im only doing this for the class. I know your notty list is emty. And your good list is emty. and your life is emty.
You don’t know the trouble I’ve had in my life. Goodbye.
love
I’m not telling you my name(Margin Art: wreaths and skulls)
Sarah's son's note probably won't make it into the specially marked mailboxes headed for the North Pole this Christmas.
To clarify, the "troubles" in his life are no more serious than the woes of a typical 6-year-old with a sibling rivalry.
Twitter reacted as you'd expect, finding the irreverent note hilarious. Some users point out that tougher days may be yet to come.
Of course, he could have a future in writing, specifically dark country.
Last but not least, his inclusion of the skulls with the wreaths may also suggest we have an artist on our hands.
What would Santa think of this?
