Toddler Uses Sign Language To Say ‘Help’ While Getting His Photo Taken On Mall Santa’s Lap

When you have a young child, it's always fun to go all-out on the holidays. Nothing is more exciting than seeing a kid's face light up when they spy their first Christmas tree or meet Santa for the first time.

Of course, while some kids love meeting Santa, lots of kids are less enthralled by the jolly old man.

Every year, parents share funny pictures of their babies freaking out when sitting on Santa's lap, but this year there's a photo that beats the rest of them.

In 2005, Kerry Spencer decided to take 1-year-old Samuel to meet Santa Claus. She wanted to get the classic Santa Christmas photo to commemorate the holiday season.

Samuel is 12 now, but the photo has become legendary in their family. Why? Because Samuel clearly didn't really enjoy meeting Santa. He actually used some of the sign language he knew to sign "help" at his mom.

In 2005, Kerry Spencer brought her 1-year-old son Samuel to meet their local Santa.

She plopped baby Samuel down on Santa's lap, but she didn't expect what came next.

Samuel, who knew a little bit of sign language, looked at his mom and signed "help."

Unlike other kids who might scream and cry, Samuel kept his request quiet.

Kerry decided to share the picture on her Twitter account.

The image, which is now 12 years old, quickly got a ton of attention: within a week, the post had over 7,500 retweets and almost 28,000 likes.

Nobody could stop laughing at the picture — even Kerry said her whole family sees it as a legendary moment.

When someone asked when the photo was taken, Kerry responded: "Several years ago now. It's a family tradition to post it on Facebook every Christmas."

Other parents shared their own Santa stories.

One woman wrote, "I have a photo of my daughter at a similar age signing 'All done!' while next to Santa."

A dad wrote: "My daughter signed 'cheese' while sat next to Santa. To be fair she had just been told to say cheese by the photographer."

"Oh what a sweet boy but that is hysterical!" wrote one woman.

Some Twitter users pointed out that Samuel wasn't actually signing "help," so Kerry explained that he just mispronounced it.

She also shared the actual sign language for "help."

Another person wrote, "This is the best Santa picture ever and would be on my wall year round."

How funny is this adorable picture?
