Clever Mom Uses Old Boxes To Make Her Daughter An Adorable Play Kitchen

There are two things we at LittleThings really, really like: happy kids, and DIY projects so clever, they make us stop and stare. And the project you're about to see has both!

Rodessa Villnueva's young daughter loves to play pretend, and like all toddlers, she needs plenty of creative stimulation for her growing mind and body.

So Rodessa decided the best thing to encourage imaginative play would be the classic play kitchen. But she didn't buy one. No, she had a much better idea.

Just like the mom who turned a simple cardboard box into an adorable, one-of-a-kind dollhouse, Rodessa decided to repurpose some of the cardboard boxes she had around the house.

She arranged, cut, fastened, and decorated them into a fabulous mini kitchen that's making some adults jealous.

And it's also inspiring parents across the globe to try their hand at creating unique DIY projects for their kids, which can help save money, cut down on waste, and even encourage kids to be creative as they get older.

Check out Rodessa's handmade play kitchen below, and you might find yourself inspired to make something out of your old boxes!

Rodessa started by setting up the boxes and designing the basic layout of the kitchen. She also marked out where the doors for the cabinets, oven, and fridge would be cut out.

Even though Rodessa had hardly begun, her daughter was already thrilled with the project — but Rodessa had something bigger in store for her little one!

When everything was arranged and cut, the kitchen got a paint job to make it bright and cheerful, and the countertops were created with a layer of adhesive vinyl.

Rodessa's daughter already had a number of kitchen-themed toys, and so Rodessa used them to decorate the play kitchen. She also added a cute window above the sink, complete with a painted view!

And she spared no detail. The knobs on the oven, for example, were created using jar lids that have been painted.

The sink is made from an old baking pan set into one of the boxes, and the faucet is an old pump from a bottle of soap.

When it comes to upcycling, this is some of the most creative we've ever seen!

She also created these cute signs using some chalk for the café-style board, and a printout for the sign. Now the kitchen can double as a play restaurant.

And it seems her daughter is thrilled with her new kitchen!

This is obviously a seriously elaborate DIY, but it proves that you can create a beautiful, delightful play space for kids without spending a lot of money and reusing something that might have been otherwise thrown away.
