Rapper Kanye West expressed his undying love for his mother, Donda West, with a song he wrote in 2000 titled "Hey Mama."
The track, which appears on his sophomore album Late Registration, speaks about his loving upbringing, his future plans to give his mother everything she needs, and the fact that she always put him first no matter what.
"And you would give anything in this world / Michael Jackson leather and a glove, but didn't give me a curl / And you never put no man over me / And I love you for that mommy can't you see?" West raps.
Two years after the song was released, Ms. West sadly passed away at the age of 58 "as the result of complications from a cosmetic surgical procedure," according to People.
But, in a beautiful moment below, we see the time West performed the touching song for his mother on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2005. It's an incredible moment that emphasizes just how close West was to his mother (similarly to a contestant who auditioned with a touching song for his own mother).
Just watch as he also invites his smiling mother on stage with him — and I'm sure you'll be just as touched by it.
