I love learning about the different cultural traditions around the world. My best friend's family is from India, so when we prepared for her wedding, we made sure to include plenty of customs to represent her heritage. She looked gorgeous in her sparkling lengha, and all of the bridesmaids participated in having mehndi designs carefully drawn on their hands in henna. It definitely made the day extra special for everyone!
Of course, traditions are exactly what make weddings so meaningful. From the vows the couples exchange right down to the rings they place on each other's finger, everything is steeped in significant meaning. Typically, those traditions tend to focus on the bride a little more than the groom, but others make sure to give the groom and his groomsmen just as much time to shine.
For this Turkish wedding, the men line up in a row together to perform a the ritual dance together. Linking hands and arms, it's clear these dudes made sure to practice before showing off their impressive choreography for the big day! On each side, a groomsman holds a customary scarf while they kick, sway, and crouch down to the beat of the music. It's an amazing way to show the bond between each friend and family member while celebrating the groom!
I'm sure the bride will get her turn in the spotlight, too, but it's nice to see a groom getting his own share of the wedding fun.
