Any holiday or occasion gives me the perfect opportunity to make a fun themed dessert. And with St. Patrick's Day around the corner, I've been looking for a perfect green treat to make.
After searching online for some inspiration, I recently discovered the secret to making clover-shaped cupcakes — with no fancy pan required! In fact, anyone can make green clover-shaped cupcakes using nothing but marbles! Yep, you read correctly: glass marbles!
Using a standard cupcake or muffin tin, you strategically place the marbles around the cupcake liner to create the clover shape. Had you ever heard of this marble trick? It's so clever. (Don't worry, the marbles aren't inside the cupcakes!)
It's amazing how easy you can turn ordinary cupcakes into shamrocks. Plus, the kids (and adults!) will love them. Now let's get cooking, so we can celebrate the luck of the Irish with these festive clover cupcakes.
What you need:
1. Make your cake mix, according to the box.
My recipe called for:
- 2 eggs
- 2/3 cup water
- 1/4 cup oil
This batter looks blue when it is first poured into the bowl, but after mixing the ingredients together, the cupcake batter turned into a bright green color.
2. Carefully pour the batter into each cupcake liner.
3. Using three marbles, shape the cupcake liners into the shape of clovers.
4. Bake 15 to 20 minutes at 250 °F.
5. Meanwhile, add green food coloring to the icing.
Stir together until you achieve desired green color.
Once the cupcakes are ready and cool, pipe on the green icing.
Now it's time to decorate!
I applied edible candy eyes and used sugar rainbow candies for the mouth. These cute cupcakes were a total hit and gone within minutes!
These clover cupcakes take a wee bit o’ time to make, and the end result is totally worth it. Who wouldn’t be delighted with these treats? Make St. Patrick's Day your lucky day with these clover cupcakes.
