When farmer Andy Benson saw a video of a person performing CPR on an animal, he had no idea that it would come in handy when his newborn cow needed help years later.
"I saw a guy doing it to a deer on TV and figured if you can do it to a deer, you must be able to do it to a cow," the Canadian man told CTV News. "I figured I'd try it anyway, give her a chance."
The poor calf suffered complications during birth on his family farm. Benson quickly leapt into action and began performing CPR just like he had seen on TV. The technique can certainly save an animal's life, as it's done for humans time and time again.
"We tried to get the fluid out, couldn't get nothing, so we sat her down and I wiped her nose off and started to blow, covered its mouth and other nostril and started blowing in its opposite nostril and I had to do it five or six times or more," he said.
His father also helped by giving the calf a chest compression and she finally started to breathe.
Benson understandably now shares an incredible bond with the adorable calf he named Lucky, as you'll see in the heartwarming clip below.
