Here’s The Best And Easiest Way To Change A Duvet Cover

Changing a duvet cover can be downright frustrating, and there are several different approaches you can take. Apparently, I’ve been going about it the wrong way my entire life. In this video, DailyMail writer Aimee Brannen demonstrates the three most popular methods using a king-sized duck down duvet. Afterwards, she shares which method she finds easiest and quickest — and the results may surprise you.

Traditional method – 1 min 43 seconds

putting your arms inside the cover to line up the four corners and then shaking it out. Straightforward and simple, even if it does require plenty of welly to get the job done.

Shake method – 2 mins 5 seconds

This approach, which involves turning the sheet inside out and shaking the cover down onto the duvet while holding onto the top corners, is the one favoured by most people I have spoken to.

Rolling method – 2 mins 2 seconds

The rolling method, sometimes known as the sausage or burrito method, was the third technique she tried. It involves laying the cover out flat on the bed and then placing the duvet on top, carefully lining up the corners.

DailyMail also shared Aimee's verdict: "I can honestly say I find the traditional method the easiest, especially when it comes to king-size quilts – as the results of our experiment attest. That said, I can see the benefits of the rolling technique and it was definitely the least strenuous method, even if it wasn't the quickest. As for the shake method, my thoughts on this remain unchanged. I can see why it works for some people but I just don't have the strength or the arm span to execute it properly. However, if changing a single bed I can see why this method would be preferred."
