Indiana Man Turns A Barn Into An Elephant Sanctuary

Many people travel hours to get to French Lick, IN, where Jerry Fuhs runs a special spa at the Wilstem Ranch. However, this is no ordinary spa. It's one that caters to three female African elephants that have become his family. How unexpected is that?!

The elephants have also become family to one another. Two of the elephants were orphaned after their mothers were killed and now they look at the third as their mama, according to WAVE.

It's fairly common for orphaned or abandoned elephants to be taken in by another, as we've seen from the one in the Thai sanctuary who shared an incredible reunion with the baby she took under her wing. This wonderful species is very social and needs to feel the love of a herd. They can even become depressed if they don't have that family bond, which was the case for baby Themba after he was rescued.

And as you'll see below, the elephants are surrounded by love. They get pampered by visitors who are eager to spend time with them, including these children who showed up to bathe and feed the elephants as well as give them pedicures.
