83-Year-Old Veteran Plays Taps Every Night To Honor Fallen Soldiers

For the past four years, the people at an intersection in downtown Galveston, TX, have been hearing the same tune at sunset. Every day at that time, a man perched on a balcony, brings out his bugle.

This is 83-year-old Guy Taylor. He is a Marine veteran who served in the Korean War, and every day he plays "Taps" on his bugle. The familiar tune attracts a crowd of passersby, but this routine has a very special purpose. Cpl David Champagne, who was one of his best friends, was killed in action. This is Taylor's way to remember this friend, and all the other fallen soldiers.

But Taylor isn't the only one who is contributing to the emotional experience. The constable plays in important role by parking his patrol car in the intersection: Everyone on foot or in their cars must stop. And when they do, they begin to appreciate the sacrifice of the men and women in the armed forces, both lost and still serving.

There are many ways to give thanks to those in the military. This woman's hugs showed soldiers how much she cared, and this teen wants to make sure that every soldier's funeral has someone playing "Taps." But it's often the simplest ways that touch the most hearts.

Please SHARE to show your support for all members of the military — past, present, and future!

Chilling moment. Guy Taylor is 83 years old. A Marine. A Korean War Veteran. He loves his country. Every single night Guy steps onto a balcony at sunset, and plays Taps. His reason for doing this is a chilling as the moment itself. See here: http://www.fox29.com/news/116968847-story
