Oh, how I love me a canine rags-to-riches story, and this one satisfies me completely. Lady is a senior dog who made headlines all over the country when she walked 30 miles to return home — arthritis and all — to the same owners who had abandoned her, and wouldn't take her back. Not only that, but Lady spent two years prior being shuffled back and forth from shelter to shelter after her original owner died, leaving Lady to a life of instability and neglect.
After learning of Lady's story through social media, Wrigley Gum heiress Helen Rich Rosburg flew a private jet to whisk the dog to her Florida sanctuary for neglected animals. Helen is not only incredibly wealthy, but she's a true animal lover who has rescued hundreds of animals in need. She has an on-site home for a trainer to work with dogs dealing with behavioral issues and a staff of 15 to care for all of the animals she rescues.
"She's going to think she's gone to heaven," Helen's assistant said. That's because Lady has been promised pampered life with which she can live out the rest of her days, with a family who genuinely loves her. Not only will Lady have a ton of space to play outside, but she'll enjoy it with the many dogs and cats who already reside at Helen's estate. AMAZING!!!! I'm so happy for Lady and her new forever home!
