If there's one thing we know for sure, it's that cats love climbing on things. Whether it's hiding on top of bookshelves or bird-watching on windowsills, cats like to preside over their self-proclaimed kingdoms from a high perch.
And now, one creative DIY-er has decided to build a catwalk for the family pet. The designer — Instructables user cdstudioNH — wanted it to be functional, but artistic and sculptural as well.
After doing a little research and pulling inspiration from other projects, she got to work on one of the coolest cat adventure walls ever. In addition to the catwalk, she decided to incorporate bookshelves into the project.
The result turned out to be a uniquely artistic playground for her furry friend. Creating DIY projects with the family pet in mind is a surefire way to produce some incredible pieces — like this DIY dog bed and feeding station made from leftover scraps of wood.

This creative DIY-er decided she wanted to make an artistic, but functional, piece of wall art for her pet cat to perch on. She looked around for inspiration from other DIY-ers and began to map out her plans on paper.
Early on in the planning stages, she decided to incorporate bookshelves into the main structure, along with some hideaways for her cat to sleep in and sneak in at her leisure. The starting material list was small and cost just under $100.
Each piece of wood was lettered to mirror her drawn-out plans. It made orienting each piece a lot easier as the project progressed.
She created a rope bridge, cutting six strips of wood for the slats. She chose a tung oil/wax mix that would act as a finish for the entire project.
With the rope bridge successfully completed, a kitty cave and a larger, bookshelf piece could connect. This opened up ample opportunity for some high-wire kitty adventures.
The next piece of the project was the kitty — a wooden one, not the real one!
She used a scroll saw to cut out the cat's shape, and attached a shelf to the underside of the cutout to create a nice hiding or sleeping space.
After lots of sanding and oiling, it was time to tackle the electric portion of the project. She drilled holes into the wall to accept cables from the LED strip that would eventually be placed on the underside of the bookshelf.
She then moved on to the upholstering. In order to provide a comfy surface for her kitty, she laid down a corded, carpet runner.
Her cat wall was now ready for the ultimate feline adventures!
With the help of a little bit of catnip, her cat was exploring the catwalk in no time.
The crafty creator says her cat utilizes the entire structure, and it's certainly a popular conversation piece for all of her house guests who witness it.
This DIY-er hopes you get inspired by the hard work she put into her project. Her cat certainly appreciates it!
