Meghan Markle may be pregnant with twins, judging by this suspicious turn of events.
A few days ago, an Irish betting company reported that a flood of people had suddenly begun to bet on the Duchess of Sussex having twins. So many people made the same bet, in fact, that the company had to stop taking bets entirely.
"An unprecedented amount of bets on Meghan and Harry to have twins has forced us to stop taking bets on the market altogether," a spokesperson for Paddy Power told Us Weekly.
"Since the day began, the stream of bets has led us to believe that perhaps the punters — or an insider source — knows something more than we do.”
Ahhh! You have to admit that it does seem like a strange coincidence. On the other hand, people always seem to suspect that famous women are secretly having twins. Kate Middleton faced the same rumors earlier this year, when she was pregnant with Prince Louis.
But could there really be twins in Meghan and Harry's future? The odds, apparently, are not zero.
People are suddenly 100% convinced that Meghan Markle is pregnant with twins.
The news hasn't been confirmed by the royal family, so it's basically hearsay at this point.
And yet? It does seem possible!
Here's the deal: Fans of the royal family have been placing bets on all things royal baby, including the baby's gender, name, and birth date.
Last week, there was a sudden flood of people putting their money on Meghan having twins.
There were so many people suddenly betting on this outcome that the betting company, Paddy Power, had to stop taking bets.
"An unprecedented amount of bets on Meghan and Harry to have twins has forced us to stop taking bets on the market altogether," a Paddy Power spokesperson told Us Weekly.
"Since the day began, the stream of bets has led us to believe that perhaps the punters — or an insider source — knows something more than we do."
The odds of Meghan being pregnant with twins hit a high of 5 to 1 before the company closed bets on November 23, Today reports.
This isn't the first time that people have speculated about a member of the royal family — or any celebrity, for that matter — having twins. The same thing happened when Kate Middleton was pregnant — all three times!
But the sudden spike in bets does seem a little suspicious.
If Meghan does, in fact, have two buns in the oven, it would be the first instance of twins in the royal family since 1430, when Joan Beaufort, Queen of Scotland, gave birth to twins.
The royal family has yet to comment on the possibility of multiples, which isn't surprising. They're pretty tight-lipped on any pregnancy-related info.
In fact, all we know for certain at this point is that Meghan is, indeed, pregnant.
Oh, and that Harry is at least hoping for a girl.
After a fan in Sydney, Australia yelled out, "I hope it's a girl," Harry responded, "So do I!"
He also told fans in Fiji that "everyone is predicting" that it will be a girl.
But maybe it'll be two girls. Or two boys. Or a boy and a girl.
It's usually pretty obvious when a woman is pregnant with more than one baby, so I'm guessing we'll find out for certain sooner rather than later!
