Amazing Crafter Uses Empty Coke Bottle To Make Adorable Cake

The most interesting, playful looking foods are almost always the most exciting to eat.

I've once gobbled up an entire Coke bottle-shaped jello treat just because it looked so wonderfully bizarre.

Below, we share an incredible recipe by Instructables user, mommy-of-three, and food blogger Bhawya for a chocolate-coated vanilla cake molded in a shape of a real Coke bottle!

At first glance, the DIY project might look pretty complicated (the result, though, is pretty perfect), but the step-by-step instructions are clear, detailed, and very easy to follow.

The trickiest part of it all might be making cuts on the Coke bottle in the beginning, and making sure that the cake holds together when it is taken out of its shell.

Mom-of-three, foodie, and food blogger Bhawya published her recipe for an extremely realistic-looking Coke bottle-shaped cake on Instructables.

Here are the ingredients she used:

  • 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsps. pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup Nutella
  • 1/4 cup whipped cream
  • 1 empty Coke bottle

One of the key ingredients was chocolate chips — they would come into the picture later, but would be the component to deliver most of the illusion.

She started by making a vanilla cake.

She beat the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract until the batter was light and fluffy.

Then, sugar, baking powder, and flour were added in, and mixed until the lumps disappeared.

She poured the batter into a greased baking pan, and baked it at 350 °F for about 30 minutes.

The cake was cut up into small, even pieces, and set aside for a later step.

To make the bottle mold, she first peeled off the Coke sticker, cap, and neck ring, set it aside, and cleaned the bottle.

Using a craft knife, she carefully cut out a small rectangle on one side of the bottle.

She melted the chocolate chips in a saucepan for the first layer of coating in the bottle.

She poured some of the melted chocolate into the bottle, and swirled it around until it was well coated.

After freezing the bottle for five minutes, she poured in more chocolate to completely coat the outer walls.

After the cake had cooled, she stuffed the little pieces into the bottle, and made little layers inside.

Each layer was topped with a Nutella frosting, which was mixed with whipped cream.

Bhawya noted that it's important to stuff the bottle to the fullest, so that the whole construct is nice and sturdy.

She covered up the rectangular opening with some leftover melted chocolate, and put the whole thing in the fridge for two hours.

When time was up, she took the bottle out, and carefully cut away the outer plastic with a knife.

After removing all the plastic, she put it back in the fridge again to let it harden up even more.

And, voilà — the finished product!

Bhawya put back the cap, Coke bottle sticker, and cap ring that she had kept earlier, to make the "bottle" look extra realistic.

She recommends serving the cake with a scoop of ice cream — or anything that your heart desires.
