Kelly Clarkson Performs Beautiful Cover Of Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’

Like many classic songs, Prince's "Purple Rain" is one of those tunes that requires some great skill to take on.

But, much like Adam Levine's rendition in 2014, Kelly Clarkson managed to captivate the entire audience with her version. (Not like we'd expect anything else from this powerhouse!)

Clarkson, who often covers songs at her shows, performed "Purple Rain" during a concert in August 2015 at the Xcel Energy Center in St Paul, MN. It was the perfect song choice, since Prince was originally from Minnesota.

"No pressure," Clarkson said right before singing the song.

Even if the pressure was on, it was certainly hard to tell. The American Idol alum didn't miss a beat as she sang the somber song released in 1984. And just wait til you hear her belt all those elongated notes toward the end of the song.

This Clarkson gem came months before Prince passed away at the age of 57 — unexpected news that shocked the world. Clarkson took to Twitter to remember the musical icon.

"I can't believe the news about Prince. He was a true legend and had such an impact on the world. Wow. I'm just in shock," she tweeted.
