Donkey And Goose Are Totally Inseparable After Losing Their Partners

Going through life alone is tough, even for farm animals. Companionship is essential to ensuring a happy life for all sorts of creatures. Sometimes, this companionship can come from the most unlikely of places.

Bub is a 43-year-old donkey, and the oldest resident living at Rikki's Refuge, a sanctuary for animals in Virginia. When Bub first arrived to the farm, he was accompanied by his lifelong partner, Beebee. The two were inseparable, but sadly Beebee passed away.

Not long after, a goose named Goose visited the farm with his mate. Sadly, Goose soon found himself alone as well.

After Bub's devastating loss, everyone expected him to pass on as well, but something incredible happened instead. Goose began following Bub around the farm.

The two animals, that could have been left to live a life of solitude, developed an unlikely bond.

Bub the 43-year-old donkey is the oldest resident living at Rikki's Refuge, a sanctuary for farm animals in Virginia. Originally, he was brought in with his partner Beebee, after his former owner became too old to care for them.

Tragically, Beebee passed away, leaving her lifelong partner alone. The lonely donkey was devastated, and the animal handlers weren't sure Bub was going to make it.

A goose named Goose began following Bub around the farm. Goose had also recently found himself living a life of solitude after losing his mate. Rather than leave the farm, Goose clung onto his new furry friend.

Goose even preens his pal Bub, a grooming and bonding ritual that birds typically only extend to other birds. The two animals have an incredible friendship.

"They are literally never more than a heartbeat away from each other," the animal sanctuary wrote on their Facebook page.
