A grocery store in New Zealand appears to have a new animal on staff.
Every morning, a one-eyed cat named Diesel strolls over to the Countdown supermarket in Rototunda, New Zealand for his job as a greeter. The 11-year-old feline shows up in the early hours to give customers and staff a warm welcome as they enter the building.
Diesel is surprisingly not a stray and lives just around the corner with his owner, who just couldn't keep the cat from sneaking off to his favorite spot. He lost his eye due to infection years back, so people recognize his lovable, friendly face. Diesel has become a real star in the local community and he even has his own Facebook page with over 2,000 fans!
Countdown loves their new mascot and hope he never stops the visits. He gets so much love and attention that he always comes back for more!
