Alisan Porter Sings Emotional Ballad On ‘The Voice’ In Honor Of Her Late Ex-Boyfriend

Week after week, former child actress Alisan Porter continues to shatter The Voice judges' already staggeringly high expectations of her incredible talent. From the very first time she stepped on that famous stage, all four of the seasoned music pros were in awe of her vocal ability. Formerly known for her starring role as the titular tyke in the film Curly Sue, she's making her own name shine brighter each time she steps up to the mic.

Porter is also open about her past struggles with substance and alcohol abuse, now sober and thriving with her own adorable little family. Of course, those demons will always remain a part of her past, something she acknowledged with an emotional tribute to an ex-boyfriend who passed away. While practicing with her coach, Christina Aguilera, the pop star was reduced to tears as Porter told her the tragic story behind choosing the classic Patty Griffin ballad "Let Him Fly."

Sitting onstage in a gorgeous red gown with just a guitar player by her side, it's impossible to ignore the power of her sincere rendition as she slowly begins the heartfelt tune. Aguilera can't help but get choked up all over again as the camera pans to her during the poignant performance. Fellow judge Adam Levine would later commend Porter's ability to use everything in her life, good or bad, and "speak through the music."
