If you've ever seen "Showtime at the Apollo" before, you know that the audience can be a bit finicky, unpredictable and totally honest. They'll boo you off the stage if they don't like you, or sing your praises with enthusiasm if they do. The second "Superbad Brad," stepped on stage, I thought it was going to be a case of the boos.
But never judge a book by its cover. Brad, a homeless street performer in New York City (known as Superbad Brad) doesn't look like your typical talent show singer. But the second he started performing, the crowd began to fall in love with his spirit, his confidence and his soulful voice. "Let's Get It On" by Marvin Gaye is not only a difficult song to pull off vocally, but performance-wise you need to bring it. And that's exactly what Brad did!
He may not be buttoned-up perfectly, and he may not look like your typical crooner… but the crowd went wild, and that's all that matters!!
