This DIY-er created a coat rack that, when not in use, looks like a modern piece of art. It even has a hidden, and extremely useful surprise.
You can't see them, but this clever DIY-er embedded powerful magnets in the coat rack, giving its user the ability to stick his or her keys anywhere they'd like, in plain view.

This crafty DIY-er decided to create a coat rack that was both aesthetically pleasing and functional.
First, he pocketed the back of the four-foot board to make room for some very powerful magnets.
The magnet idea would allow anyone to stick their keys to the front of the coat rack!
Next up was test-fitting the hinges to make sure each square was large enough before the staining process began.
The coat hooks also served a multipurpose function. When not in use, the hooks could fold away to become part of the artwork.
The color he used was a beautiful, deep rosewood hue.
You'll notice the natural grain of the wood still showed through due to his use of an aniline dye.
With just a few coats of sealant, the incredibly vibrant color of the coat rack was brought to life.
Then came an "artistic touch."
With a bit of masking tape and a lot of patience, this DIY-er mapped out geometric lines to add character to the minimalist piece.
Last, but certainly not least, came the installation of the coat hooks.
After thoroughly drying, the piece was ready for display.
In addition to its simplistic beauty, the magnetic piece was designed to make sure forgetting your keys is a thing of the past!
