Horus is a deaf dog who was dealt a rough hand early in life. He was rescued from a couple who were addicted to drugs, and as a result of being raise in a drug den, he turned "delinquent." Horus was so badly behaved after being rescued from his drug addict owners with his three siblings that no one would keep him for more than a year. He was shuffled from home to home, family to family — and nothing stuck.
But Horus' luck and life completely changed the day he was taken in by sign language enthusiast Rosie Gibbs, 30, who used Makaton – a basic form of sign language often used on children – to train him. Now, not only is Horus the star pupil at his obedience school, but the five-year-old pup is a happy, healthy pet who has memorized 56 commands, including 'sit', 'stay', 'pay attention', 'play'… and the list goes on and on.
Thank God Rosie came into his life. It was certainly fate, that's for sure.
