All year, the weather in Sierra Leone in western Africa is hot. Sometimes, the tropical weather can be uncomfortably hot, even in the wintertime.
The rescued chimps living at the Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary, however, know exactly how to beat the heat. When the rainy season comes, the eager primates wait around for one of their favorite activities: lounging poolside.
Although chimpanzees can't swim, there are shallow pools dotted throughout their sanctuary. Every time they fill up, the chimps come out to play.
The Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary is home to a dozen chimps, including Chippie and Delilah. These two are particularly fond of partying poolside.
Workers at the sanctuary were able to capture some hysterical photos of the two chimps enjoying a little fun in the sun after their pool finally filled up with water.

The Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary in the western part of Africa is home to a dozen chimpanzees.
Some of them, including Chippie and Delilah, were rescued as orphans.
Hunting and human wildlife conflicts are not uncommon in this part of the world.
Luckily for chimps like Chippie and Delilah, these animals can live worry-free, knowing the caring staff at the sanctuary is looking out for them.
The one thing that no staff member can protect the chimps from, however, is the elements.
Living in a tropical climate means hot weather all year round, even in the wintertime.
There is little relief from the hot sun, until the rains come in.
Chippie and Delilah spend their days hanging out by their little pool, even when it's dry.
"The rains are delayed this year and the area around Tacugama is very dry at the moment," Sofie Meilvang, program manager at Tacugama, told LittleThings.
"Due to water shortage, we can't fill the chimpanzees' pool, but that doesn't mean that they can't hang out and relax in there," Meilvang explained.
Each day, they stand by just hoping to take a dip to cool off from the heat.
When the rain finally hits, they are ready to go!
The adorable chimps spend their days splashing each other and cooling off from the tropical heat.
And the water parties don't end until the little pools dry up again. But even then, they can't wait for the rain to come once again!
