Four-year-old Buddy, a 35-pound Beagle mix, refused to leave his 85-year-old owner's side when he was rushed to the hospital. Proving to be the most loyal dog ever, Buddy actually hitched a ride on the outside of the ambulance carrying Texas rancher J.R. Nicholson to Hill Country Memorial Hospital.
The medics didn't realize the dog was on the ambulance's side step for most of the harrowing journey until other drivers alerted them of the dog. Buddy, who was just adopted four months ago, was then put into the ambulance with the patient.
Nicholson and his loyal dog are doing fine and recovering at home. What an incredible story! No one ever anticipated an emergency run would show the true bond between a dog and its owner.
