When we think of rescue animals, our mind usually conjures up images of stray cats and dogs in need of a loving home. However, there are more sweet critters out there that are just hoping someone will step up to help them. Some people see birds as menaces placed on this Earth just to ruin our freshly washed cars, but others have been able to find the beauty in bringing one of the avian buddies into their homes and hearts.
Just like the man who nursed a newborn baby sparrow to thrive against the odds, the folks who spotted this beautiful girl knew they had to do something. The young hummingbird was found all alone on the streets of Vancouver, Canada, and clearly needed some medical attention. The poor thing could barely squeak out a few chirps while she waited for some yummy snacks to tide her over. If you look very closely, you can see her also give a few flicks of her tongue as she anticipates her meal.
Her beautiful plumage took my breath away when I stumbled upon the short clip, but knowing she'd endured such a rough time absolutely broke my heart. After a few sips of the sweet sugar water they provide, though, you can already see her spirits perking right up. They also made sure to take her to an animal care facility, where she will be given everything she needs to get back on her little feet.
