Do you believe in fairies?
For more than 100 years, the tradition of fairy gardening has been passed down from generation to generation. Young girls and their mothers or grandmothers would sit to create beautiful little gardens with the tiniest details. Children would sit and watch as they eagerly waited for the day those mischievous and mythical, woodland creatures would arrive and call the gardens their home.
For most, it's a fun hobby and we can understand why! The magic of fairy gardens truly lies in the little intricacies and care it takes to create them.
Whether fairies have decided to call these little-potted plants home will always be a mystery, but there's one thing we know for sure: fairy gardens make a beautiful, thoughtful gift for people of all ages.
Scroll down to find out how this clever Instructables DIY-er created a magical scene out of a few knick knacks she had lying around her house.

The first step in creating your own fairy garden is collecting the necessary pieces.
This DIY-er started with a few terra-cotta pots, a pot base, and epoxy adhesive.
She also began collecting knickknacks from around the house to give the fairy garden a magical touch.
You can use anything from pins to buttons to wood scraps. Get creative!
She began assembling her garden by gluing a broken piece of terra-cotta to the lip of the pot base.
Next, she took a hammer and carefully tapped out a chunk from a smaller pot.
She then placed it next to the larger broken piece to simulate a staircase.
After securing all the pieces with epoxy adhesive, she began to fill up the fairy garden with soil.
She recommends using soil with a little bit of gravel in it to improve texture for the succulents.
Next, she took a ruler and made accurate measurements to build a little stairway for her garden.
She warns to be very careful when using a jigsaw on small scrap pieces of wood. They tend to kick back tiny scraps and hurt your fingers!
The DIY-er had a little helper place the small stairs into the soil.
They should fit snugly between the terra-cotta pot pieces.
Next, she added the plants to her garden.
The larger succulent was planted on top and several smaller ones were placed in random spots.
After that, she watered the new plants well and hoped her "little helper" wouldn't rip them out!
The last step is my favorite — time to embellish!
Using a little bit of modeling mesh to hold the soil in place, she made a small fence to keep the mesh from being too visible.
She also added some stepping stones and a tiny door to the top terra-cotta pot!
This magical little garden was very affordable to create and makes a great gift!
