This Goldendoodle Was Stranded On An Icy River, But Wait Until You See What Happens. TEARS!

Dogs can be quite curious creatures and, for one pooch named Cooper in Wellesley, MA, that curiosity nearly made him pay with his life.

Although it's unclear just how Cooper the goldendoodle got stranded in the middle of the icy Charles River this past Sunday, one thing was for sure: As soon as officers in the Massachusetts Police and Fire Departments saw the freezing dog out there, there was absolutely no way they weren't going to bring him home.

In the raw video below from the Associated Press, you'll see as Cooper stands on a small bundle of tree limbs in the middle of the ice-filled river. The next thing we see is an officer in thermal gear breaking through the ice and swimming back to land with the terrified pooch in his grasp.

"Transfer the dog to Saul," someone on dry land says. "Get him by the collar, Saul."

And Saul does just that, grabbing Cooper by the collar and pulling him up to the icy banks of the Charles River where the dog is immediately wrapped in a heavy jacket before getting a quick sled ride (with one of the officers) to a nearby street where a warm fire truck is waiting.

Cooper gets to ride with the officers as they towel him off and dry his fur before clasping a leash on the dog and giving him copious amounts of petting on the street.

The best part of the video, however, is when Cooper's extremely thankful owner comes running down the block to greet the dog and shower him with love.

What an amazing rescue story that could have ended very badly if it weren't for the fine folks at the Massachusetts Police and Fire Departments.
