Mandy Curran had put off planning her wedding for over 20 years, but when her health took a turn for the worse, she decided to tie the knot right from her hospital bed. Now, just weeks after her "deathbed wedding," she has made a miraculous recovery.
There have been some incredible miracles this year, from the woman who awoke from a coma to give birth to the mom who brought her newborn back to life. Curran's story is just further proof that miracles are real.
When Mandy Curran collapsed in her home, doctors feared she might not survive a bout of internal bleeding. They attempted to stabilize her, but her condition worsened. Unsure of her future, she married Paul Curran, her fiancé of 20 years, in a rushed bedside ceremony.
Shortly after the ceremony, the sick bride was admitted to intensive care, where she remained in a critical condition. Weeks later, her health took an unexpected turn — for the better! She began to pull through and stunned doctors with her remarkable recovery. After three weeks of further treatment, she was discharged with a clean bill of health.
"It seems the deathbed wedding saved my life. At the time I was so close to dying, when Paul suggested we get married in hospital, I agreed straightaway and the wedding was wonderful," she told the U.K.'s Telegraph.
"The following few weeks were a blur to me, but I was then moved off a high dependency unit, and I knew I had to get better for the sake of new husband, so I tackled it one day at a time, getting out of bed and learning to walk again before anyone could stop me. Now I'm happily back at home with a new lease of life and a new husband," she added.
It appears that the couple will get their fairytale ending now that Mandy has been released from hospital. What an incredible miracle!
