From the moment they find out they're expecting to the second their baby is born, it's every parent's most desperate wish that their child be healthy. Prayers are said for 10 little fingers, 10 little toes, and a lifetime of happiness ahead.
But, as we all know, life tends to throw us curveballs. Nothing is ever as simple as we hope it will be, like when this woman learned when she gave birth to four babies instead of three.
For young parents, Chris and Ashton, their curveball came during an ultrasound of their baby boy, Jack. They learned that their baby had a rare and critical heart condition, one that would require a lifetime of care.
After experiencing their initial shock and learning about Jack's rare condition, these young parents did what anyone would do: They braced themselves for the fight, putting faith in the powers that be and the strength of their unborn little boy.
As you're about to see, it seems their faith has paid off. Little Jack's story of survival is stunning.

Little Jack Stevens was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, a condition that affects only one in every 5,000 babies.
As a result of this condition, baby Jack was born with only half a heart.
In order to survive, Jack would have to go through a rigorous series of operations, including four open heart surgeries.
But Jack, born at only 4 lbs., 4 oz., was just half the normal size required for these procedures.
During his nine total surgeries, little Jack suffered a stroke and had to be resuscitated three times.
Of his 15-month life, baby Jack has spent more than half of it in and out of hospitals, undergoing surgeries, and being monitored by machines.
He also had to be administered 12 medications up to four times a day.
"It was really difficult watching him lying in his hospital bed for so long, surrounded by machines and tubes," said Jack's father, Chris.
"But we knew it was best for him and he's battled through everything. He's a real fighter." Jack's dad continued.
Now, after overcoming a lot of tough odds ·like a 30% chance he wouldn't survive), baby Jack is doing much better.
Recently, the little fighter celebrated the removal of his feeding tube for the very first time!
Although his condition is a lifelong one, and he will eventually require a heart transplant, Jack continues to grow stronger with each day.
Said his mom, Ashton, "He is definitely a little hero when you consider what he has been through. He is a fighter."
