Crafter Updates Her Side Table With A Cool Queen Of Hearts Design

Sometimes, when it comes to updating furniture, it can be fun to mix your mediums.

Using painting, collage or drawing, you can take a bland furniture piece or ornament and make it all your own.

Though taking a chance on your own abilities as an artist can be a little scary, the results have the potential to be breathtaking, like this mosaic CD table.

DIY-er Suzy of Suzy's Sitcom did just that and used one of her original designs to revamp a bland side table.

The pretty little piece is now a fun representation of her personal style.

By adding her own touch to this home improvement project, she create something beautiful that can't be replicated — something all her own.

So if you have been wanting to show off some of your sketches but have been too squeamish, check below and get inspired to paint your masterpieces on just about anything!

Suzy started with a side table that she bought at a flea market for about $10.

Not being a fan of "shiny furniture," she decided to turn it into something bright, beautiful, and original.

She created this beautiful Queen of Hearts–inspired imprint by drawing one queen, tracing her, and flipping her over to get the mirrored effect.

The pattern of this design can be found on her Etsy shop.

Next, she removed the handle from the table's faux drawer and doused it in white primer.

She then began transferring her original image into the top of the table.

This can be done by enlarging the image with a copier, but Suzy used the clever method of drawing a graph on the table, then copying the shapes in each square to eventually make the entire image.

She painted the image using bright beautiful blues, reds, and golds.

Finally she finished with satin polyurethane and stuck a crystal drawer pull in the handle's hole.

The end result is colorful and completely stunning; if this doesn't get the creative juices flowing, I don't know what will!
