If you love collecting seashells by the seashore and are looking for a creative way to capture your memories from your beach vacation, then DIY-er Mona from the Craft Klatch can help.
As a part of her seashell series, Mona has done it again, but this time she has come up with the DIY Vacation Memory Ball that would even make Martha Stewart jealous!
In a crafty DIY tutorial, Mona shows you how you can create a beautiful and eye-catching clear ball ornament that showcases your seashells with glittery sand on the bottom. Who doesn’t want to remember their beach vacation throughout the year, especially if you live in a place that has harsh winters!
Other DIY projects that also bring the glittery flash are DIY glittery champagne glasses will make any party shine and a softer, old-fashioned feel of a vintage-style guest book that makes an adorable addition to any DIY wedding.
The material you will need for your vacation memory ball are: ice ball molds, resin, seashells, sand, a fishhook, white glitter, Mod Podge super gloss, and a dremel tool (optional).
Mona mixes the resin, sand, and white glitter, and adds it to the mold (watch out for bubbles along the way). Then she places the seashells, sand dollars and starfish (which are also sealed in Mod Podge) on the sand. She gives it 12 hours to cure and then preps the resin again, repeating the process, and pours the rest of the resin in the mold. She creates a stand to help suspend a fishhook in the center of the mold. For the official directions, check out her video below.
“As a person who grew up loving the beach, this is fantastic! Will definitely be making one of these in the near future,” commented Nikahatt on YouTube.
Mona’s motto on life is super cute and crafty, of course — “Life's too short not to shimmer, so grab your glue gun and your glitter!”
