Police Officer Comforts Little Girl Moments After A Car Wreck

Being a police officer is one of the hardest jobs out there. Every single day, these brave men and women get suited up to go out into their communities to protect and serve, and every single day, they leave their homes knowing of the potential dangers that could come their way.

While police officers are trained to fight crime and go on high-speed chases to uphold the law, we don't often get to hear about the stories that involve their community service. Amber Brockwell shared with ABC 8News a heartwarming story that shows the softer side of our nation's police.

It was a regular night like any other when Amber was suddenly rear-ended by a car going 45 miles per hour. When Amber finally realized what had happened, her maternal instinct must have jumped in — her 4-year-old daughter was in the car, too, but was she OK?

Thankfully, her little girl wasn't injured, but she was certainly scared and confused. That's when the cops showed up to save the day!

The Chesterfield County Police Department might look like a tough group of officers, but at the end of the day, they're humans just like any of us. They have families they come home to every night and bills to pay at the end of the month.

While we're used to hearing about cops catching criminals, we don't often get to hear about the most important aspect of their jobs: community outreach.

Amber Brockwell got to experience that "community outreach" firsthand in a moment of desperate need. She was driving with her daughter and came to a dead stop. Out of nowhere, her car was rear-ended.

While everyone in the car was safe enough, the whole experience shook up both the mother and her little 4-year-old girl. Getting in a wreck is scary no matter what age you are, but for a 4-year-old, it can be a truly terrifying experience.

Thankfully, one of the first responders to the wreck knew exactly what to do. While the other police worked on the situation on the road, Officer Taylor let this little darling know that everything was going to be OK! A bit shaken up, he gave her an honorary Jr. Police Badge to show all of her friends just how brave she was!
