Although normally a sport attributed to men, fishing is a pastime that anyone can enjoy. I loved the time I spent fishing with my dad and grandad, even if I only made a few small catches.
There's a sense of accomplishment and pride that one feels when you're able to strategically catch a fish. After all, it's not something everyone can do.
But imagine being a young fisherman: you would never dream of reeling in life-changing bounty at such an early age. In fact, you would probably be satisfied by what you're able to bring to the table, because you're still an apprentice. But this isn't the case for one 9-year-old girl, who was fishing with her family off the coast of Maryland. The little girl has her whole life to catch larger fish than this one, but how likely do you think it is that she will set another record in her state?
That's right! Emma Zajdel managed to reel in a 94-pound cobia, setting a Maryland record for the largest fish of that type caught. By chance, the family decided to throw out one last line before heading home. It wasn't long before they saw the monster cobia at the end of Emma's line — and it took them 20 minutes to reel it in!
The massive fish weighs about 20 pounds more than Emma herself, and is about a foot taller.
