Expectant parents have a lot to look forward to in the months before their little bundle of joy arrives.
From picking out a name to deciding how they want to deliver their baby, there’s so much to anticipate, but parents everywhere tend to place special significance on one moment: learning whether they’re having a baby boy or girl.
Some parents wait until delivery to learn their baby’s gender, while others choose to find out earlier. Either way, once the parents know, it’s their privilege to reveal the information to friends and family.
Lately, parents have been getting super creative when it comes revealing the happy news, trying everything from cake smashes to this adorable sibling onesie reveal.
But our favorite take on the trend has to be a cute and sporty gender reveal that relies equally on DIY know-how and hand-eye coordination!
Scroll through the gallery below to see the adorable craft in action, and learn how to make it yourself!

The first step is to get some simple colorful chalk.
You'll probably want at least one stick of pink chalk and one of blue if the baby's gender is still unknown.
If you already know the gender, you can get a few in the color you want; that way you can surprise a few people at once!

Once you have the chalk, you need to crush it up into a powder.
You can do this by hand, especially to break it up into smaller pieces, and then use a blender or food processor to break it down further.
When you're done, you should have a finely graded chalk dust.

Next, pour your chalk dust into a plastic baggie, keeping it separated by color if you're using more than one.
The plastic bag will serve to store the fine dust while you're working on the next steps.
Be sure to wear a mask while handling the dust to keep from inhaling it!

Next comes the tricky part: you need to hollow out some eggs.
This particular tutorial shows making a hole with a drill, but you should also be able to use a sharp needle to pierce the raw egg and open up a small hole.
Then, you can pour the yolk out into the trash — or save it for omelets later!

Once the eggs are empty, it's time to go ahead and fill them up with the chalk dust.
Make a simple funnel out of a sheet of paper; simply roll it into a cone small enough to fit in the egg and tape it into place.
Then, pour the chalk dust through the funnel into the egg until your egg is nearly full.

Once the powder is filled in, simply shut the hole with plain old scotch tape.
If you're worried about the powder leaking, you can also top with a bit of plain white flour and paper to help disguise the secret for longer.
Once that's done, you'll also want to clean up the eggs to make sure no powder is on the outside of the egg.

Now comes the fun part!
The egg will be given to the person who is about to learn the baby's gender. In this case, it's Dad.
Next, set things up so that the egg will break easily and showcase the color straight away.

This setup used a golf tee and golf club, but you could also achieve a similar effect with a Wiffle bat (and a T-ball stand, if your coordination isn't that great!).
This expectant dad went ahead and teed up, and when he followed through with the swing?
A beautiful burst of pink appears!

And if the egg setup is just for close friends and family, make sure to catch a snap confirming the good news!
We love this adorable shot of the parents-to-be with a pink golf flag and onesie; it would make for a perfect birth announcement for their wider circle.
