I remember when I was little and on vacation with my family, one of the coolest things was to go down to the hotel pool for a swim.
It was always so strange to don a bathing suit and walk through the carpeted hallways of the hotel. Then, to get into an elevator full of people in nice clothes going out for dinner or a day out and about while wearing a big T-shirt over my swimsuit.
Then, our voices would echo off the glass enclosure as we walked through that heavily chlorinated entryway. The smell would seep into our skin, and it's so engrained in my mind that whenever I think of it, I think of childhood.
Mom and Dad were always there, too, of course. Usually Mom would wade in the shallow end or lie on a plastic lounge chair, and Dad would come into the deep end with my brothers and me to protect us from the sharks in our imagination. It certainly is a moment many kids adore and probably don't forget as they get older (like me!).
When this little boy gets ready to go to the hotel pool? Mom's the one who can't keep it together.
One glance at this little guy and you'll totally understand why. He's almost too cute to handle.
He clearly doesn't have a care in the world about how ridiculous he looks, he's just excited to get into that chilly water.
