It's impossible to know how much heartache a child dealing with cancer is forced to endure throughout their treatment. Not only are the procedures often draining and painful, but they're also forced to forgo what should be the most carefree years of their lives in order to fight the cruel disease.
Luckily for young Hunter, the fifth grader definitely knows she can count on her friends to help her remain strong throughout the whole ordeal. In the clip below, she joins her bestie, Macy, for a very special trip to the salon.
With Hunter wearing a huge, gorgeous sunhat, Macy sits in the chair ready for her new look — but it's not one of the pros who takes the sheers to her long blonde locks.
Well, not at first, anyway. It's Hunter who is given the honor of snipping away at Macy's ponytail in a heartwarming moment of friendship and kindness.
The beautiful tribute is caught on film by one of the girls' mom, and it's difficult not to get a little emotional as you see Hunter holding the detached ponytail, gently stroking the strands before the camera cuts away.
When they're done filming, Macy got her hair evened out by a stylist while Hunter received a beautiful manicure.
