Mom Makes Emotional Plea To Other Parents After Daughter’s Devastating Skateboarding Accident

When we're young, our parents or siblings teach us many things, including how to ride a bike. But the most important lesson about riding a bike — or anything with wheels — is how to keep yourself and others safe. This means, of course, paying attention to your surroundings and wearing a helmet.

Your head is one of the most crucial and fragile parts of your body. One hit to the head, and you can be severely impaired for the rest of your life.

Now, mom Emma Fairthorne is worried for the life of her daughter, Georgia.

The 19-year-old was skateboarding with family when she fell over a stone and hit her head. She was rushed to the hospital, where she had brain surgery, and where she is fighting for her life.

Her devastated mother posts regular updates on her daughter's condition on her Facebook page, Georgia on my mind. So far, her daughter has made some improvement, but simply being able to squeeze her mother's fingers is a major accomplishment.

Now, Emma is telling other parents that they need to be more vigilant about helmet use and safety while riding around on bikes, skateboards, and anything that can cause their children major injuries that can change their lives forever. The mother doesn't want to see any parent go through the same ordeal.

You can help the Fairthorne family in these tough times by donating to their GoFundMe page.

Please SHARE if you are convinced that wearing a helmet is a crucial safety practice, and you will be more forceful in telling your kids and grandkids to wear one.
