Bahamas Sprinter Dives Over The Finish Line At The Last Second For The Gold Medal Win

There has been no shortage of excitement as the 2016 Olympic Games continue over in Rio with athletes shocking us at every turn.

Whether it's Simone Biles nailing her flawless gymnastic routines or the moment Chinese diver He Zi broke down in tears during her boyfriend's poolside proposal in front of the whole world.

Thankfully, we haven't seen much in the way of controversy when it comes to the heated competitions. One sprinter from the Bahamas, however, is stirring up some viewers who are accusing her of cheating in the 400-meter dash.

In the clip below, you'll see Shaunae Miller with USA's Allyson Felix just a step ahead of her as they inch closer to the finish line. A split second before Felix can cross and earn the Gold Medal everyone was expecting to see hanging around her neck, Miller dives her body over the line to nab the top spot for herself.

While it isn't something encouraged or used often by professional sprinters, the move was completely legal and Miller's Gold status will remain intact. According to the official rules, the winner is the athlete whose, "torso (as distinguished from the head, neck, arms, legs, hands, or feet) reaches the vertical plane of the closest edge of the finish line."

Of course, Felix and her supporters are crushed by the near-victory being nabbed at the last moment. Others are applauding Miller, pointing out how you can see her trip and lean into the dive as a "Hail Mary" effort.

Take a look, and decide for yourself.
