When a mother chooses to put her child up for adoption, there's no guarantee that she will ever see that baby again in her lifetime.
It's a brave choice and done for good reason, but the prospect of never knowing who your own child will grow up to be, or what they will even look like, is daunting. It's enough to make a lot of mother's second-guess their decision.
But a lot of the time, these children grow up and go looking for their biological parents on their own terms.
This desire to know where they came from and to see if their face resembles that of their mom or dad is something that a huge number of adopted children feel.
And when records are well kept, these reunions are very possible. All it takes is a little bit of digging.
And the prevalence of Facebook and other social media outlets is definitely not hindering this process either — they've been huge assets.
So when Jamie Parker connected with her birth mother Kim Collins on Facebook, it was only a matter of time before the two met in person.
Collins had given up Parker 35 years prior, and she hadn't seen her daughter since. So you can only imagine her face when she saw her little girl again for the very first time.
