Hospital’s Maternity Wing Sets A New Record For The Number Of Twins Born There In One Month

For a mom to give birth to twins is a rare occurrence, when put in perspective. Not a huge percentage of the population is a twin, though you may personally know one or two sets. I know of a few, myself!

But for a hospital like Methodist Hospital in Minnesota, the number of twin births per month is about three or four on average.

But for the month of July, the hospital saw a spike in this number. A spike so huge, it was record-breaking for the hospital!

The maternity ward welcomed a whopping 13 sets of twins in July, more than four times what they expect to see each month!

The hospital even threw a party for the mothers and their infants in honor of the new record. Dr. Megan Schmitt is just one of the doctors who helped bring some of these twins into the world. She's shocked by the sheer number of sets, but she thinks it's quite exciting!

So what's it like giving birth to and taking care of twins? Mom Antanee Friedman says that it's no different than raising a single child — it's just a matter of keeping the babies on the same schedule!
