You can create fun arts and crafts with crayons by using them for more than just coloring. So before you toss out those old crayons, you might be able to breathe new life into them with a fun upcycling project, like a DIY crayon frame.
Not only is it the perfect way add a splash of color to your decor, it allows you to show off your kids' school photos or artwork.
Even though I'm not terribly artistic, these cute, colorful frames are the perfect craft to make to ring in the back-to-school season and are ridiculously easy to make. Simply arrange the crayons around the frame any way you wish. The end product is an extremely imaginative way to turn normal crayons into pieces of art you can put up around your home or even child's bedroom.
What I love most about this project is that the true beauty of DIY crafts lies in the simplicity and expediency of the process. And this craft couldn't be faster and easier to make.
Who knew that the most versatile items are lying right in your house? I mean, how often do we toss things in the trash or put them in recycling, knowing that you probably could have reused them? Sometimes, there is almost no limit to what you can recycle, or upcycle. And when the end product turns out as cute as these DIY crayon frames, it makes me so happy knowing I was able to craft "trash" into something new.
Check out the tutorial below for step-by-step instructions on how to create this cute craft.
Supplies:
1. Measure the length of the crayons and use scissors to cut off excess.
2. Apply hot glue to the picture frame and place the crayons.
Press the crayons firmly on the frame until the glue cools. You want to make sure the crayons are securely glued and stay in place. Apply more glue as needed and continue around the frame.
3. On the smaller portion of the frame, measure the crayons and cut accordingly. Then, glue in place.
4. Gather photos or artwork that you'd like to feature in the frame.
And that's it! The finished product is so colorful and perfect for framing kids' artwork.
This looks so cute on the mantel and keeps pictures on display in a safer spot than the refrigerator. The little artists will be so proud to show off their creations.
These DIY crayon picture frames are really a fun project and much easier than I thought they were going to be.
Of course, feel free to get creative with these adorable frames. You can also use the crayon frames to feature cherished photos or even give as a gift for a teacher. Have fun with it.
These truly add a splash of color to any room.
