It's an unfortunate fact of life that some pets are unwanted by the humans who adopted them to begin with. There are many reasons a pet must be given away, such as a family moving away to a new home, or a lack of financial resources. It may be sad, but dogs and cats must be left in shelters, with the hope that another family will find a place in their heart and home for them.
But there is absolutely no excuse for unceremoniously dumping a pet, especially in dangerous conditions.
A shelter volunteer was shocked when a dog crate inside a trash bag was left at the shelter's doorstep.
But what was even more appalling was what was inside: a dog.
The Yorkie mix was trapped inside the hot box, and left in 90-degree weather. If the shelter volunteer hadn't arrived when she did, this poor pup would have certainly perished.
She was already in terrible condition, as her fur was completely matted and she was covered in fleas.
Now, police are looking for the woman who committed such a terrible crime, which was caught on the shelter's surveillance camera.
The pup, named Gladys, has somewhat recovered from the ordeal, but the woman who left her for dead remains at large.
