Every Time I Try To Go Swimming, My Dog Does THIS… And It Warms My Heart!

Every time Katie the Newfoundland is outside with her owner Gary, and he wants to go swimming, she has an odd ritual: She needs to climb over the diving board twice, almost looking like she wants to make sure it's safe first. After she climbs over it and Gary jumps in, she always races to his side at the edge of the pool, again, just making sure that he's okay.

Newfoundlands may be big dogs, but have huge hearts, and are usually just giant teddy bears. They can get very attached to their owners, and have a special need to make sure the people around them are safe – especially when it comes to water! Katie is doing exactly what Newfoundlands do, watching to make sure everything is okay!

I can definitely understand why some dogs might get scared of their owners jumping into pools and swimming underwater – they want to make sure they'll come back up to the surface again! When I was a kid, our black lab would always wait for us by the side of the pool, wagging her tail the whole time!
