Every mom with school-age kids knows the struggle with lice.
You try your best to make sure that your kid avoids all possible avenues of infection.
You tell them not to share hairbrushes, not to pass around scrunchies, and maybe you warn them about hugs and even standing too close.
But when it comes down to it, if there's lice around, it will most definitely seek out each and every clean head of hair in the vicinity.
They're resilient and quick, and so, so contagious. No amount of tips and warnings can keep them at bay.
Thankfully, a quick medicated rinse and some deep cleaning of the house usually gets rid of the nasty little buggers.
But if you live in Northeast Ohio, it's time to start taking lice a bit more seriously.
There's currently a strain of lice traveling around the area that is resistant to 98 percent of medications.
It's being called "super lice," and with back-to-school right around the corner, its chances of spreading are increasing like crazy.
Liz Jernejcic knows super lice all too well. They affected not only her, but all four of her sons. Jernejcic wasn't taking the infection lightly, so she ended up shaving her sons' heads in order to get rid of the bugs.
So her kids might be adorably bald at the moment, but they're most definitely lice-free.
